"What is absolutely indispensable is strict follow-through, effort, and stick-to-itiveness. Don't be frightened if things seem difficult in the beginning. That's only the initial impression. The important thing is not to retreat; you have to master yourself. This ability to conquer oneself is no doubt the most precious of all the things sports bestow on us."
Olga Korbut
It's not just sports people that rely on absolute dedication and follow through, but everyone in a "normal" every day life should too. A girlfriend of mine is the absolute worst in follow through, she looks and looks and looks - but rarely does she make a decision - even when faced with the absolute, must have bargain, she would walk away - and then complain she should have bought it because it's everything she said she wanted and at a great price too. To be honest I hate shopping with her because I am the opposite - if there is something I want and I feel it is exactly what I am looking for and it "fits" - be that the house, myself or the person I am buying it for - then I will buy it. I rarely worry about the decision - AFTER the purchase. She on the other hand needs validation - before, during and after purchase ... it drives me nuts.
- Do your homework - absolutely. Make sure that you know what size, colour, fabric, style you need - BUT
- When you see it - BUY IT.
- And then - move on. Failure to do so means you are constantly going over and over the same ground.
Of course this principal does not just apply to every day life of course, but to our school / college / university / business life as well.
- How many times have you failed to follow through and missed the sale?
- How many times have you failed to ensure your job application got to the right person and you missed out on the interview?
- How many times have you failed to return the calls / emails and lost credibility and / or the sale as a result?
- How many times have you failed to ensure you eat properly or exercise
Failure to follow through means we simply cannot move forwards.
How many times have you failed to follow through? This week, I need you to follow through with your decision making. Go with your gut instinct and see how much more you can achieve as a result.
As always, many thoughts
