Today is the end of another year

Today is the end of another year. Another year of goals achieved, of
goals missed, of things we should have done but didn't.

Wait a minute, did you say today is the end of another year? but it's
only the beginning of February!

Of course today is the end of another year. Which means of course,
that tomorrow is the start of another year.

What? I don't understand.

No? What is wrong with the concept that today is the end of another
year? It's not hard to

a) imagine that today is December 31 2010. After all January
disappeared faster than it has ever disappeared (or is that just me
getting old?). What did you achieve over the last month? Repeat that
for the next 11 months and guess what - that's another year finished,
gone, never to be repeated.

Or

b) accept that the past 12 months makes one year.

You see, it doesn't matter what day / date we choose to measure, after
all time just is. Time is always there, ticking slowly away, counting
the moments before we "move on".

So if you can accept that then you are ready to use the very next
moment as best you can. Because we don't know how many "moments" like
this we will have. Are you now content to sit back and tell yourself
"you'll start tomorrow?"

We are still close enough to January 1st to know we had good
intentions. We know that January 1st is "supposed" to a good day to
start thinking about goals, resolutions and the like, the problem with
January 1st is we are still in holiday mode. How many of you say "this
year is going to be different, this year I am going to...." And by the
end of the first week you can hardly remember what you said you
wanted? Well most people are like that if you listen to the noises
they make whilst sitting around the lunch room eating too much.

Replay today - did you use your "moments" wisely? What would be your
top 5 achievements / highlights of today?

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

What 5 things are you going to do tomorrow? Are they going to be
worthy of celebrating?

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

What 5 things are you NOT going to do tomorrow?

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Or are you still content to fill your life with "stuff" that doesn't need doing?

I hate it when you do that.... you are always hitting the nail, in this case - a dozen nails on the head with this post.

We all have good intentions, and like all good intentions - that's where they stay - unless you do things differently. And I admit I have good days and bad days....

I loved the challenge you created last year - kept me accountable in ways I've never done before....
Thanks for making it freely available last year

Cheers Jon

Hey thanks for that Honi_bee - if you can just remember that our lives are determined one decision at a time you can put things back into perspective.
All the best
