Be a Pollyanna - count your blessings

Just had a minor giggle - I typed in Anonymouse - oops - but that's what today's post is all about

No matter how bleak your situation appears to be, there is always something good happening around you - it just depends where you are focusing your eyesight as to whether you see it or not.

First of all let me say this

1. Someone, somewhere will have been through what you are going through - there is always someone who can help you.
2. Sometimes all it takes IS a change of mindset - speaking from experience I also know how naff that comment can sound when you are feeling low and you can't shake it off. But if you are just having a grumpy day (and yes we all have those) then take yourself away from whatever is causing the grumps and put things back into perspective.
3. Be interested in the process. Work out what is causing the grumps - there may be an underlying issue you need to deal with.
4. Accept that some days you are the statue and some days you are the pigeon

But does that mean you have to always be positive, uplifting and cheerful.

Absolutely not. If you situation is dire, then acknowledge that and work out ways to deal with it. We can provide you with many strategies to overcome slumps and the procrastination caused as a result. Failing to deal with the issue and think your knight in shining armour is going to come riding to your rescue / win lottery / receive your inheritence will solve all your problems - you are deluding yourself - JUST A LITTLE.

So, understand your emotions and your moods, but accept that there is always good things happening around you, start with something small and acknowledge at least one good thing about today. Acknowledge it aloud, say thank you.

Put your fridge on a diet. No seriously when was the last time you had a good look at what you have stored. If you don’t have “bad” foods in the house you can’t eat them - simple strategies are often the best ones. And if you do have to fetch them because you can’t do without them – at least put on your runners instead of getting into the car. At least that way you will have "earned" your indulgence
