Keys to living a more authentic life

"The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself"
The Law of Authenticity
p95 - The Go Giver

Whilst imitation may be a sincere form of flattery, you would do better to model yourself on you and your own skills and abilities than trying to be someone else. Sure you may admire them enough to emulate them, but when you go to extremes to be someone you are not, you are not doing yourself, your customers, friends or family any favours.

I'm not a great believer in conforming to stereotypes. I wear weird things, my hair cut is a throw back to the 80's asymmetrical look of the human league, I wear odd earrings and odd socks - why? because I want to. I don't care what other people think and I certainly don't believe I should conform to being a 40 something, single mother of 2 with a degree in librarianship. And when it comes to this e-zine and MotivateMe - I don't offer you platitudes and give the usual "motivational" hurrah. Me - I expect you to work hard, but I also want you to have fun in the process. I want you to explore what is holding you back from being everything you can be, and I want you cast off those restraints and go for it. Because I think this single aspect is one of the keys to where you are and what you think you are capable of.

So - a thought for the Easter Weekend:

* Have you tried to conform to someone else's stereotype of what you should do and how you should behave?
* Why?
* What did you want to do "when you grew up"? Is there any way you can re-capture that?
* If you had all the time, money and energy in the world - where would you be, what would you be doing? How would you be earning a living? Who would you be helping?
* What would you "look" like? Did you have a personal style? Has it got lost somewhere in the conformational stage of your life? If you're having trouble remembering - get the old photo's out. Am I embarrassed by my old looks? No, I've had some truly awful haircuts on reflection - but you know what, it grows - so what!! But it probably explains where my love of hats comes from, amazing what you can hide under a hat :-)

If you do take some time to answer those questions I posed earlier you should find at least one of the keys to living a more authentic life.

Let me know how you get on -

Motivational Tip: Your Mind - Sleep
---------------------------

Don’t burn the candle at both ends - apart from the fact that the wax drips everywhere - if you intend working hard tomorrow you need to ensure you get enough sleep tonight. The average person does not get enough sleep and this “sleep debt” can affect us in many ways. It can affect our concentration, our ability to function and
