Habits are those things

Consider:

  • Every habit you now possess was once a conscious and deliberate act on your part
  • You took the time to create those things you now do without conscious thought
  • You can get into the habit of creating good habits
  • Habits are those things you don't think you have until you try and stop doing something
  • It may take you 1 day, 30 days or years to create a new habit - it depends how much you want something as to how long it will take you
  • You can't lose bad habits, no matter where you go they will always find you, especially in your weaker moments
  • The stronger your character the stronger your habits will be
  • We are creatures of habit, usually bad ones - Anon

====================================================================

What habits do you have? Write them down, acknowledge them - every one. Then ask yourself:

Can you replace a bad one with a good one?
Have you replaced one bad habit with another? The big one that comes to mind here is smoking. Have you given up smoking and gained weight? A lot of people do - they don't know what to do with their hands / mouths so they substitute cigarettes with food. Whilst I have never had to cope with the habit of smoking I have had to deal with weight loss and gain a number of times over the years - and as you know I am replacing my current bad habits (the ones that allowed me to gain weight with better ones that is allowing me to lose it again) (FYI - 1.8kilos this week)

Acknowledge every habit, only then can you decide:

  • Which one/s are you willing to keep?
  • Which ones are serving you?
  • Which ones are keeping you stuck?
