Watch your language and other ways to overcome the procrastination habit

We speak thousands of words to ourselves every single day, and in the main they are not very complementary. We tell ourselves we're useless, we can't do things, what were we thinking etc etc etc. Our sub-conscious mind can and does play a huge part in what we achieve, and it can be difficult to "over-write" but it can done, if you want to. How? Well, as we have said in previous editions of the daily dose of motivational medicine, and ways to overcome the procrastination habit in particular. If you believe you can, you will speak words that "affirm" what you know to be true. You believe in yourself and your abilities and not much can get in the way. So the trick really is to create a goal list that inspires you, goals that you believe in, and goals that you work on.

What other strategies can you use to overcome the procrastination habit

  • Practice positive action - this goes hand in hand with the point mentioned above. If you believe something to be true, you will work on your action plan.
  • Enjoy each day you've been given. Even in your blackest days there will always be a positive - focus on them, after all we have no idea how many days we have left.
  • Play the "what if" game.... it's fun
  • Doing as well as dreaming. It's OK to think about what your future will be like, but unless you take action you are deluding yourself into thinking things will be different.
  • Writing in the positive - again this goes hand in hand with point one. Say for example you had to write a job application and you had to comment on the worst job you had to do, I can almost guarantee your tone will be neutral at best and negative more often than not. Always focus on the positive - even if that positive is how "not" to do something.
  • Leverage what you know

And finally for today I would like to give you something that has always stuck with me. Jim Rohn asked 4 simple questions:
1. Why
2. Why not
3. Why not you
4. Why not now

When you take those 4 points as part of your philosophy for living a positive life, you will achieve many amazing things and you can kick the procrastinationj habit to touch

With many thoughts
