When the whole world stops
Today's motivational tip will contradict what I am about to say - but I do believe it is true in a lot of cases. Where it doesn't hold any kind of sway is with what is about to happen in South Africa, and similarly with every major sporting event around the world. Near enough is never good enough in the sporting world.
In the sporting world there are winners and there are those who tried but didn't quite get there. The reasons as we know are many:
The "winning" team / person / country - played better, they may have wanted it more, their belief in themselves may have been stronger, they knobbled the ref! (kidding). Their preparation may have been better, they may have slept better the night before, the other team (etc) was struck down by flu, they had bad news from home, they didn't know / like the pitch or conditions.
Whilst some of these may sound like sour grapes or excuses - what is even more interesting to me is not the fact that there is yet another sporting tournament on which I won't watch, but the fact that so many people will give up huge swathes of their lives to do so. Given the time zone of where this particular tournament is being held, there will be a lot of very tired and probably hung-over people over the next couple of weeks.
I have just 2 questions to leave you with:
Why are so many people so motivated to watch other people living their dreams?
AND -
Why can't we be as excited about our own goals?
With many thoughts

Motivational Tip: Strive for good enough
---------------------------
Sometimes good enough really is good enough. If you have been "guilty" of thinking perfection is the only way of living your life I would suggest you are trying too hard, and putting yourself under too much pressure. Now I don't mean, be sloppy or slapdash in your thoughts or actions - but polishing the manuscript for the 14th time is probably a little bit of procrastination overkill if you know what I mean. And believe it or not I know of some people who iron sheets, underwear and t-towels which to me is striving for perfection when it really isn't necessary. A case of watching for your procrastination spots and asking yourself - am I striving for perfection?
