You never know who you're inspiring
I was at a family "do" last night. One of our friends was celebrating his 60th birthday, and something tells me there will be a pic or two heading for facebook eventually. Whilst I was taking a break from my heels, a daughter in law of the guest of honor and mother to two young children came and sat down at the table with me...and what she said astounded me.
As you know I post regular updates of my training escapades via twitter and facebook - partly to prove that I am doing what I say I am doing - after all I reason that if I can't motivate me - how on earth can I be expected to motivate you, and partly to keep myself "honest". It's easy to tell people we've been "to the gym" but how many times have you walked out wondering if you actually worked your jaw more than your muscles.... (believe me some personal trainers I see!!)
Anyway Jo said she was inspired by my facebook comments to start working out again. Her hubby had bought her the Wii Fit for mother's day and whilst she had enjoyed using it, other things had gotten in the way and consequently it had been a few weeks since she had done anything.
I was so pleased
Of course the conversation that followed, we have had many times:
- We need to make a commitment to ourselves and our goals
- Inspiration can come from outside sources - and we never know what they are until we are ready to see them
- Only when we are ready to change will change occur; and of course
- Never deal in double standards, because you never know who's following what you are doing
Who are you inspiring with your actions?
With many thoughts
