We are what we do
I saw a t-shirt not so long ago that said
"If we are what we eat, then I'm fast, cheap and easy ..."
Whilst it did make me chuckle, it also made me think. I know, I know, I can't see a simple t-shirt slogan and just take it at face value ...
What would your "slogan" for life be?
To determine that you need to look at every aspect of your life, your relationships and your business.
There are some good indicators:
* Your kids and spouse / partner want to spend time with you
* You got a thumbs up from your recent health check
* You exercise on a regular basis, not only do you enjoy it, you look great too.
* Your diet is not "fast, cheap and easy" ... unless we are also talking healthy, nutritious and balanced (and no a burger in both hands does not make for a balanced diet).
* You get good marks for your assignments
* The bottom line for your business is in the black and not the red
* You are keeping your current customers - they're coming back to us, and we are getting referral business
But it can be so easy to tell ourselves we are doing OK, when we know in effect we aren't. It's easy to be faked into thinking we are doing everything we know we should be doing, but can let things slide
* We can tell ourselves we are doing all that we can - when we know we slumped off for an hour today when we should have been working.
* We don't pay off the credit card debt every month so the interest starts to jack up
* We don't pay our debts on time
* We may go for a walk, but it's not to keep fit but to escape the house for a bit
* We hate going to work
* We are bored, tired and listless
So - if we are what we repeatedly do -
* Who and what are you? And
* Is that OK?
