Today's daily dose: 30th August 2010
---------------------------

The first sign of madness is doing the same things in the same way and expecting different results.

The second sign of madness is to carry on doing "it" when the results are speaking for themselves.

Think about this in terms of muscles development. To develop better muscle tone you need to do 3 things:

1. Use bigger weights and / or do more repetitions (move out of your comfort zone)
2. Reduce your body fat - so you can see the muscles - believe it or not we all have six pack abs, but most of us carry several kegs of fat over them!! (get rid of your bad habits so you can develop good ones)
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until you reach your goal - which could take weeks, but may take months or years depending on a) how much muscle you want to develop and b) how long it will take you to reduce the body fat ...

Translate that formula into any goal and you have just learned the 3 steps to achieve any goal, which is part of the problem unfortunately.

Is it any wonder most people take one look at the formula for goal achievement and give up. But there are no magic pills that miraculously allow you to burn body fat while you sleep after spending all day eating too much and doing little or no exercise.

However, there is an optional extra you can add to the steps we outlined above, which will mean you can achieve your goals much faster and in a better mood. Actually there are 2 optional extras:

1. Believe you can do it - and
2. ENJOY the process.

If you don't believe you can, then you won't and if you don't enjoy the process of change you are not going to reach your goal and all of a sudden be happy about it. But if you enjoy the journey - at least you have the illusion of getting there quicker. Actually it isn't an illusion - that was my attempt at a joke. If you enjoy what you are doing, you are more likely to do "it" more often. The more effort you put in, the more you are going to get out of it. The real trick is to make sure you are working on the right goals. It's no good digging a hole and enjoy the process of digging the hole - IF THE HOLE IS IN THE WRONG PLACE.

We have come to the end of August that gives us approximately 120 days before we reach the end of the year ... are you putting the effort into the right goals (the ones that will give you the best / most reward?) or are you digging a hole in the wrong place?

With many thoughts
Elle
