It is important to remember that in order to get the most out of this thing called "life" you do have to pay a price.
* You do have to make the calls
* You do have to visit your clients and customers, sometimes many times before you get the sale
* You do have to study to gain your qualifications
* You do have to put in the hours to maintain your fitness levels, and you have to work even harder if you want to improve them.
You can of course sit on the sidelines and watch other people getting on and enjoying life, but where would that leave you? That isn't a rhetorical question - if you don't do things differently, how can you expect to get any different kind of perspective or result?
Are you the kind of person who doesn't want to pay the admission price to see some of the world's most amazing views. You've driven all day to get there, to find that entry fees do apply - but you decide that you are not willing to pay the few dollars so you can experience it yourself. You argue that you shouldn't have to pay, that it's only a ...
There are a lot of people like that.
We saw some of that kind of thinking today as a matter of fact ... $11 to get into the Kalbarri National park for the day and people were doing a U turn ... "I'm not paying that..."
Now I'm not saying that you can't find and utilize the odd bargain here and there, but sometimes you do have to pay the full price for some things, and you know what - it doesn't make the experience any less. In fact because you have had to pay the full price price for admission you do want to make the most of it. Or is that just me?
Training courses are a very good example of this kind of thinking and mentality. If you are paying the price of the ticket yourself I can guarantee that you will get more out of it than if you had been "told" you were going on a training course by your boss.
"He/She thinks I need training ..." grumble, grumble, grumble ...
And you know I'm right.
I try and go to as many events as I can. Some are free, but usually there are admission prices to pay and I will gladly pay the money so I can see, experience and enjoy. They also serve another purpose for me, they allow my cluttered mind a chance to stop, so my creative side can take over. And that to me is worth every penny.
* Are you willing to pay the full price of admission?
* Are you willing to put in the effort so you can get the full reward, or are you going to make a u-turn at the gate?
As always - something to think about...
