Don't wait for the river to run out
I hope you are working through the 100 day challenge program we sent out on Wednesday. I have noticed that days 3 and 4 are usually the worst. We wonder why we are bothering, and our good intentions get railroaded by our day to day lives.
Weekends are a great way to refine your challenge goals, but they are a great way to really push ahead - and you can read my take on that at the end of today's ezine.
But for those of you who aren't taking on the challenge - some food for thought
He who postpones the hour of living rightly is like the rustic who waits for the river to run out before he crosses.

Motivate Me to Exercise: Start off slowly and rest if you have to
-------------------------------------
If you have done little or no exercise in a while it is a good idea to start slowly. If you are considerably overweight or have a medical condition I would also recommend you having a physical from your GP before beginning any kind of program. But you can start slowly - why not walk for 5 minutes, or 5 minutes more today than you did yesterday. Invest in a stationery bike and stick it in front of the television if you have to, and cycle your way through your programs.
A couple of years ago I was training to run the 12km City to Surf.event. When I first started I could not run more than a couple of hundred meters before needing to stop. BUt day by day I built up the distance, then worked on reducing the time it took. Unfortunately I overdid it and tore my right quad, and didn't have time to heal before the day of the race. This year I walked the course. I have just registered for another event - this time it is the BIg Walk. but rather than just go on a 15km walk which will be nice, I am raising sponorship money - the money will go towards the Children's Cancer ward at Princess Margaret's Hospital and Rotary. Why?
Well I have 2 happy, healthy kids - but I know that not everyone is as fortunate as I am. I am also using it as a way to motivate you - the readers of this - the Daily Dose of Motivational Medicine and of course the 100 day challngers. There is a prize for top sponsor of a $500 sports voucher, if we get the top spot I am going to donate the money to my children's school so they can purchase some new equipment.
Will you help me?
Thanks to the support of some amazing people we have raised over $100 already, but it would be nice to raise a bit more - if you can spare some money, the childrens cancer ward and myself would be most grateful. Just click on the link - or copy and paste into your browser - and you can find out all about it.

100 Day Challenge: #97
-------------------------------------
Weekends, when different rules apply - or do they?
Actually no, just because it's the weekend doesn't mean you can slack off. On the contrary weekends are a great way to push through any problems and issues you may have with your challenges. Why? Well simply because there is more time to do this kind of "stuff".
My to-do list for today:
- Gym - 20 mins weights, 30 minute cardio and abs circuit class
- Grocieries - got to find time to do those otherwise the kids will get grumpy. It's also the start of holidays so a few different foods in the house given the kids usually eat me out of house and home during these times.
- Garden - I am in the process of weeding and mulching my garden. At the moment the challenge is to get the front garden bed under control. I have one annoying plant and grass groing through it (about a metre squared) left to go, then it's done... thank goodness. And more exercise.
- 100 things gallery - yep, image loaded for today and a couple of more areas cleaned, tidied and pics taken for tomorrow and beyond.
Think I might go and have a lie down now, except I do need to write today's edition of the Daily Dose of Motivational Medicine.
How are you going with your challenges?
