"Aim for success, not perfection. Never give up your right to be wrong, because then you will lose the ability to learn new things and move forward with your life."
Dr David Burns

I love this quote and the sentiment behind it, and it dovetails nicely into the first part of our month long Motivational Tips: Motivate Me to Exercise: 1 - Personal Bests

By deciding today that you are going to be just that little bit better than yesterday be it in one area of your life, or across all areas of your life (it's up to you) you are proving you are a success. By constantly challenging yourself and what you are capable of means you are a success. Granted there will be times when you feel like nothing is going right, when it seems like you are walking through treacle uphill - but you know what, you are a success because everyone else wouldn't be bothered to even try and battle through.

I'm sure you know people like that, I know I do - and it frustrates me. I know they are capable of so much more, but their minds are stuck in the cycle of "what happens if I fail?" or "I can't do that because ..." and you know what - they are absolutely correct - they can't because they say they can't. They are not willing to be wrong, they are not willing to fail, they are not willing to push themselves.  And then they wonder why nothing changes for them.

I know you are not like those "other" people, but I just wanted to use today as a reminder to you - that every day you work on your goals be it for five minutes or 5 hours - you are a success. But don't be surprised when your "friends" and colleagues start complaining to you about why you have all the luck.

Motivate Me to Exercise: 1. Personal bests
---------------------------

When it comes to exercise, if we want to improve we need to improve on our own personal best. Take education as a good example of what we mean. Say for example you are in Year 10 of High School, but instead of doing Year 10 work the teacher gave you Year 8 stuff. Not only have you done the work before you will be bored rigid., and so it is with exercise. If you don't change your training, if you don't push yourself to constantly improve, you will maintain what you have at best, or worse go backwards. Now you may be happy with where you are, but I will challenge you and say that there is always room for improvement.... in some way. How can you improve your personal best?
