Aim for success not perfection

"Aim for success, not perfection. Never give up your right to be wrong, because then you will lose the ability to learn new things and move forward with your life."
Dr David M Burns

I was speaking to the captain of the local "girls" soccer squad today, a good friend and the lady who persuaded me that it I was still capable of playing soccer even at my vintage ... bless ... (BTW I would be in the veterans league assuming they had one...)

They played a friendly this morning. It was 35 degrees, stinking hot - and they gave it their all, reasoning if you didn't want to be on the park then what was the point of putting on your gear if you were going to let your team mates down by NOT playing your best. The game might have been messy, it might not have won any kinds of awards, BUT - they won the match.

Sometimes we do just have to keep going when we don't want to, sometimes we might just want to stay home, put our feet up and tell ourselves we can't. Well in this grand game of life - sometimes we do just have to put on our gear and give it our all - after all we never know who might be watching us, never know who might need our guidance and courage. They may look to us and say - hey if they can do it, then *squares shoulders* so can I.

Who are you influencing without knowing you are? Are you influencing them in the right way or the wrong way?

Which is always something to think about
