What are you going to spend your $100 on?

If there is one thing that is certain, we are all going to reach our own personal "dead lines" but you could be forgiven for thinking we have all the time in the world when we say things like:

"I'll do that tomorrow"
"I'll get around to that when ... I have more time / money / whatever else we decide is our excuse of the moment."

Do you remember when I asked you to save $1 a day for 100 days a little while back? Well I hope you are playing along because in the middle of September when this particular challenge comes to an end, you get to spend it... but remember the caveat - it should be on one of those items you would do "if you had the money" rather than more STUFF. Well - simple maths says that $1 a day for 100 days = $100, so what are you going to spend your $100 on?

Well this is where the "do before you die" list comes in handy (otherwise known as your bucket list).

Do you have a list of everything you want to do, see, experience, participate in - over the course of your life? My list is massive and it changes, because of course as you achieve those things on your list, you will find other items you will want to have a go at / do / explore. Quite simply this is your life goal list... but buckets sounds much more fun - you can chuck things in buckets, swish things about a bit and then grab a suggestion and go with it. Goals can seem too intimidating, so we're not going to set "goals" what we are going to do is give our minds a darned good work out.

    * Which countries do you want to visit?
    * In your local area which attractions would you like to see?
    * What other attractions do you want to see?
    * What physical things do you want to participate in / do? (think - marathons, triathlons, walking the city to surf, losing 10 kilos, stop smoking, taking dance classes etc)
    * Which festivals do you want to experience? (day of the dead in mexico, the mardi gras, blessing of the fleet)
    * What languages do you want to learn?
    * What experiences do you want? (boat trips, cruises, whale watching, swimming with dolphins, patting a kangaroo, seeing elephants in the wild, skydiving, kite surfing, abseiling, rock climbing, laps in a V8, flying lessons)

The list is endless and as you begin to do some of these things, so you will want to do even more.

Once you have your list, then you can work out what steps you need to take - in this particular case you are already taking the steps - you are saving the $1 a day. The next step will be to decide which item you indulge in first. Then all you need to do is work out what day, book it, hand over your $100 or thereabouts and enjoy yourself. Goal setting and more importantly goal achievement can be as easy as that.

So take time over the next few days, grab a notebook and start working out what you want to do come September, and ultimately beyond and throughout the rest of your life.

The beauty of this challenge is - once you can see it works with $1 a day, with a pre-determined end date AND with the reward at the end, you will be able to step it up a notch next time -  and isn't that exciting.

With many thoughts
Elle
