It hurt my back and knees
What did?
I've been carless this week. I was a little careless (first time in 18 years as it happens) and managed to bend the wheel arch on my rather snazzy Fiesta Zetec a few weeks ago. Well technically it was my fault - but there were mitigating circumstances - namely my car is black, the car I reversed into was black, it was pitch black and he'd parked on an angle on my drive and I didn't drive over enough garden bed to miss it ... *sigh* you get that, and I will be paying $500 in excess for the privilege of getting it fixed :-(
I decided to forgo the hire car option I have on my policy - and I will be removing it (writes note to self), turns out I would need to cover the insurance, the deposit and fetch / return it. And to be honest it didn't seem to be worth it for the 5 days she was going to be away - so I've been using the Transperth public transport system. I have to say I am really impressed. On time, every time, cheery bus drivers if you choose to engage with them, polite passengers (except for the "gentleman" who decided to sit opposite me on the last journey and pick his nose the entire way home *yuk* - but I did get a chance to read my book to and from work. Oh and Friday morning I got to see a rainbow out to the ocean and 2 dolphins in Fremantle harbour. There are always positives if you care to look for them... and lets face it you can move if you need to (which I did).
Normally I put all my bags and baggage in the boot of the car and hit the road... gym gear, spare clothes, makeup, toiletries etc. Well I wasn't going to forgo the gym just because I was going to be carless, so I pared down what I normally carry, stuck it in a holdall and slung it over my shoulder... all 10 kilos of it. Travelling light? Not when you do as much exercise as I do these days.
By the end of day 4 (Thursday) my back and my knees started to hurt (not to mention my neck and shoulders). And I mean REALLY hurt. My right knee creaked and groaned everytime I walked up a flight of stairs, and the gym on Friday morning was painful, so much so I stopped running and walked during group training, and I was quick to put it down to "old" age. And then it occurred to me - I used to have these same aches and pains all the time - when I was 10 kilos heavier than I am now.
I tell you, it was a relief to leave the extra 10 kilos at home this morning. If only it had been that easy to lose the actual weight...
Something tells me it's going to take a couple of weeks for everything to stop hurting again. A nice, timely reminder - NOT to put the weight back on
Hope you have an amazing weekend.

100 Day Challenge:
---------------------------
Challengers:
A couple of thoughts on how to use the 100 day challenge:
Challenge #1: For the next 100 days, say only nice things about people and to people - and that does include what you say to yourself - no negative speak
Challenge #2: Put $1 into a jar - then at the end of the 100 days use it to achieve one of the items on your bucket list - book a bungee jump, laps in a V8, take a flying lesson - or whatever you have on yours that would cost about $100 - I would prefer it if you didn't use it to buy clothes or other items, this is about doing something amazing for yourself - and those things you would do - IF you had the money, well in 100 days you will have $100.
Challenge #3: In a journal or notebook, write down 5-10 things you are grateful for - every day for 100 days...
Little things can and will change your life.
With many thoughts
Elle
