Heading for the "rock"
Actually we're heading towards several "rocks" next week...
Motivate Me is going to Alice Springs and Uluru (Ayers Rock) and the Olga's. If anyone happens to be in Alice Springs next week and wants to catch up, please let me know.
Uluru has been on my must see / bucket list ever since I learned the art of goal setting, I am very excited. But getting to that point has shown me just how much planning, preparation and organisation that goes into any kind of trip. Which of course got me thinking about most kinds of goals and things we have actually have to do to achieve them.
Goal:
- Visit Uluru
Action Steps:
- Work out budget
- Save money
- Work out timeline
- Save some more money
- Organise time off work
- Visit travel agent / do some research / Book flights, accommodation and trips
- Arrange travel insurance
- Organise house / pet sitters
- Ensure bills are scheduled for when you are away
- Organise travel items - toiletries, medicines etc
- Charge batteries, download / clear cameras / videos
- Organise cables / electronic gear
- Pack
- Empty bins / clean the house / put out the bins for collection (if necessary)
- In my case, backup all my files, transfer data / files onto my netbook so I can talk to you while I am away (assuming connections)
- Confirm flights / trips
- Forget to sleep because of the excitement
As you can see from that kind of list, nothing is massive and most of those things would never make it onto a normal goal list, but each item is essential - and most of the time we don't think about the tiny things we have to do, but each tiny step makes up the entire goal that says "we are going to ..."
Which if you think about it is why you can't know EVERY task / item you need to complete before embarking on any goal, sometimes you just need to begin the process and allow the journey to unfold as you go along...
I'll see you at "the rock"
