Getting from A-B isn't the hard part

Getting from A-B isn't the hard part

If A = where you are now and B = where you say you want to be when you have reached your goal.

No, getting from A to B isn't hard, if you know what B is.

Do you know what B is for you?

The trouble is most people have more than 1 B. They want to lose weight, stop smoking, save a thousand dollars, move house, find the perfect partner, set up a business and do it all in 5 minutes. Imagine standing in a circular room - you are standing on a big painted letter A in the centre of the floor. Around the walls are every goal you say you want to achieve... every single one is important. You start to turn on the spot, BUT where do you focus? That's one of the reasons why we call it spinning our wheels. Otherwise known in Australia as headless chook mode. We don't know what we really should be focusing on, so we run over here, do a bit of that, turn around - oops better make sure I exercise this morning - no, don't have time I've got to ...

Actually you've got to STOP IT

Believe it or not a lot of those goals I've listed above can be combined.

Do you know how many calories are in that double choc mocha you had on the way to work?
How about the money you spent on it?

Multiply both out - The double choc mocha with full fat milk is probably a day's calories (well it sounds like it should be) but I do know the monetary cost over a working year (given 5 days a week for 48 weeks in a year) is about a thousand dollars. Don't believe me, you do the math.

Instead of going down to the corner deli and buying a made up sandwich of which you have no idea what ingredients they chose to use - you can choose to make your own, save yourself a few dollars and quite a few calories in the process. Again do the math, now you are probably closer to saving $2,000 not 1 and you've saved yourself a lot of calories in the process. Now consider taking your trainers to work and walking for half your lunch break. As you walk you can work out the next steps for the business you say you want to run or the area you want to move into. You get back to the desk and write down your notes and your next action steps... and voila over the course of a couple of a few weeks you are well on the way to achieving all the B's... all it takes is a little bit of focus in the right direction. As for finding the right partner - well given you are now exercising on a regular basis, you've probably lost a few pounds and your clothes feel a little better, you may feel a little more confident in joining that dating site you said you would when you had ...

Which is definitely something to think about

:-)
