Consistency is they key
You cannot treat one person in one way and someone else in a different way if you want to stay in business very long.
Why? After all you know and like Joe, he's always done business with you. You can have a laugh and joke with Joe, so you remember to give Joe a bit of a discount whenever he places an order.
But that Fred, well he's a different kettle of fish. Always busy, always in a hurry, never gives you the time of day. So you don't give Fred the discount, even though Fred has done business with you for as long as you can remember.
The problem with this kind of behaviour isn't the fact that you are playing favourites, even though you are. It is the fact that Fred knows just about as many people as Joe. In fact Fred told Joe all about you, you just didn't know that he had.
So what happens when someone speaks to Joe and he tells them what a great guy you are, always gives you a discount. That person - who also happens to know Fred, mentions it to him next time he sees him and what happens then? Well your name is mud. Fred decides to take his business elsewhere, one that is closer to home. He'd always used your company even though it was out of his way to do so.
Breaking the procrastination habit can be as simple as being consistent with your actions, and doing whatever it is you do extremely well. Without fail. You see, you never know who you are going to meet, or just as importantly who is observing you and your actions from afar. Nor do you know who will be recommending you and your services, or not as the case may be.
So before you treat customers differently, take the personality issue out of the equation and start treating everyone in the way that you would like to be treated, and you will automatically start to improve - not only your output, but your day also. You see if you only have nice things to say about your customers and clients, it will tell in your manners, the words that you speak and the actions that you take. Go on you know I'm right.
