Networking = listening with an open mind
I was fortunate to go to a breakfast seminar this morning - Dr Stephen Lundin was presenting "CATS: The Nine Lives of Innovation" for the first time in Australia.
It was good for many reasons:
Someone else cooked breakfast !! always a good reason to go somwhere isn't it, when you don't have to do the preparation or the clearing up afterwards. It means you can focus on things other than whether there will be enough eggs to go round, or whether there will be enough coffee and croissants.
The speaker was able to impart his knowledge, and his experience in an intersting way to a wide variety of people. Whilst I'd heard some of the examples he'd used before, because he could relate those examples in a slightly different way, meant there were some "ah-ha" moments. "I hadn't thought of it in those terms before."
And so did the people who sat with us on our breakfast table.
Everyone has something to offer you - if you are willing to listen and absorb the messages and lessons on offer. Remember it is very hard to be half-open minded.
With Many thoughts,
