Step back and look

As you go about your busy days, it is important to remember the simple things in life play an important part as well as those things that make you the most money, or make the biggest impact.

Life is about balance. You don't get rainbows without sunshine and rain. You can't appreciate a good night's rest if you have done little or nothing during the day. Taking your shoes off after pounding the pavement can be one of the most amazing things. But you have got to put in the hard work first.

Friday - the end of another "normal" working week. How did your week go? Did you do all that you could. Did you pound your metaphorical pavements this week? Did you spend time and improved a skill, completed a project, finished a major job. Or was your week filled with day after day of doing exactly the same things? Sometimes it can take weeks of laying one brick after another before the end result can be seen. We may feel that we are not getting anywhere, but brick by brick, wall by wall we can create the most amazing structures. The problem with doing the same thing day after day is that sometimes we lose track of the bigger picture. We coast a little more each day until every day is a clone of the one before.

So if you are guilty of treating each day like all the rest, remember life is balance - step back from your wall(s) and view the bigger picture. Only then will you be able to see what it is you wanted to achieve, only then will you be able to see how far you have come. Then and only then will you be able to tell if you could have worked differently / harder and then you can set the plans in place for the next day / next week. Step back and look, sometimes it's the only way.
