Managing Change: Looking at repeated patterns of behaviour

Do repeated patterns of behaviour, habits, addictions, keep you stuck in the same place, doing the same things? Do they get worse or better over time? Most people assume that if they keep doing the same things in the same way then they get the same results.

But if you think about it, we base today's actions on the results we obtained yesterday. Every day we redefine the term "normal".

Depending on how much effort you put in, you can determine the results you get. However, what seems "hard" when you first start to do something, you become used to doing. Which means that you can start to coast if you don't change what you are doing, and/or the intensity of the activity.

It is when we start to "coast" that we need to take the most notice of where we are and what we are doing, and more importantly the results that we are getting. if your results are not as good today as they were yesterday, you need to have a look at your behaviours, habits and addictions and ask if they are a positive influence on your life, or a negative one. Only then can you make the decision to change or keep on doing the same things in the same way.
