New Year's Resolutions: Tis the year for not messing around
Do you have a new set of New Year's Resolutions? Or to put it another way - have you set yourself your goals for the next 12 months? No???? why the heck not, too hung over - what still?
Come on guys, time to get your head out of the sand, you know what you should be doing, the question is - why aren't you doing it? Having a list of "stuff" you want or need to do should be incentive enough, but don't forget the biggest motivator is (or should be) the results that you are getting as you cross things off your planners. Step by step we can move forwards. Cleaning a house starts with a single room. A journey begins with a single step and the desire to get to the other end. Where is your desire? Why don't you want to do something today? Why are you happy stuck in the same place, doing the same thing day after day? Me - I've had enough of that.
I have just over a week of my holiday left, and I have only just started getting stuck into the major tasks, projects and goals that I have stuck on my list, and I must be honest, some have been on the list for a while - namely finish the garden, finish the book, work on the website, think about a second book that's been hovering around in the back of my mind for a while - and maybe create a CD so I can motivate myself on the way to work. Did I tell you I hate drive time radio - well I do, it drives me insane. Bland, mundane, boring patter that some find amusing, me I just find it annoying.
So I have my objective - finish the garden, and it is time bound - i have about 10 days to do it in. It is also heat bound - we are in the middle of summer here in Oz, so there is no way I am going to be working during the heat of the day - but if I get up early, do the garden when it is cool, I can shower and get on with the writing projects in the cool of the house, when the sun hits the peak.
And that is only one of the major projects I have lined up, as I said I don't have time for messing around this year, I have far too much to do. What about you?

Two things, it's much hotter today than the last couple of days....so we have until about 1pm to do the garden until the sun hits. Got it slightly wrong today, instead of laying concrete for the patio edging my son and I went off to look for some pebbles and pavers...oops, could have done that this afternoon. But have worked that out now, so concreting first thing in the morning it is followed by a trip to the garden centre after lunch....I love it when a plan comes together.
So when starting out on your goals, remember you do have to amend as you go along, minor corrections as you travel.
The second thing - we did go shopping this afternoon, my trainers have given up the ghost and has caused me to have pain in the right foot, so cure rather than prevention on this one I'm afraid.

Since my last message, the weather pattern has changed - dramatically. It's rained, it's cool, minor point - we have had a cyclone northwards and a nasty weather front moving through the south of WA tonight, tomorrow. And tomorrow we will finish all the remaining retaining walls. WE've been backfilling as we've gone along, so the patio will be finished tomorow, a day earlier than planned, which just leaves the plants to fetch and implant, then mulch - actually now I think about it, that's still quite a bit of work. But I can see the end - which makes the job a lot easier on the back.
How about you - how are you getting on with your projects? Can you see the end yet?

Well my back is officially stuffed, after a week of heavy lifting, and laying half a tonne of concrete, a couple of hundred bricks and a tonne of soil and road base you would think that planting 20 or so plants would be a doddle. Hmm - not so, my back is suffering today. Good job we finished the job this morning. I'll add a couple of pics so you can see what we've been up to, and to prove I really do practice what I preach.
