Ways to Motivate Teenagers and Students > Help teens see that it's cool to do well in shcool

I am a middle school teacher. At the beginning of the school year, most of my students were doijng very well in school and were driven to achieve the honor roll. Lately, a few have started questioning whether it is cool to do well. They have been teased for getting good grades, and now they are not trying as hard. They'd rather fit in than do well.

Any leads to a good article I could share w/ these teens? I'd like to have a sort of support group with them.

Hi and thanks for the question. I will certainly have a look through my collection and let you know. Being the mother of teens myself I can empathise. One thing I said to my 15 year old as he was about to start senior school - get above average grades for the next 2 years and I will find a way to buy you a car.... but that is individual student motivation, based on an individuals needs and wants. Yours I know is far more complicated than that.

I thought this article was interesting - 3 different ways teachers are motivating their kids to do well in school - obviously the website itself has a lot more interestiing articles too - worth a look.
