Random thoughts

The air is cold in the living room. The ground outside the window looks damp and uninviting. Winter really is just around the corner now, which is hard to believe when the temperatures hit 40 plus day after day that we will ever feel cold. But that day has come. Whilst not "officially" winter (that's June 1st in the southern hemisphere) it feels cold enough to snow. A phenomena never seen in semi-tropical Perth. Monsoonal rains yes, hail - occassionally, sleet and snow - an improbability.

I've got just 5 more minutes of semi-peace before I have to wake the little people. The fur creatures are out and about already, enjoying morning bikkies and left over veggies, and a mad race around the house bouncing over the furniture too.

I can tell winter is almost here, the skin on my face feels old and tired today, like if I smiled the parchment would crack. It needs more external moisturiser these days, the internal re-hydration has already begun.

Tonight I start upping the training - last night I mapped out a 12km circuit, it's surprising how far it actually is - OK i know it's a long way, 12k's is a long way !! The plan is to do a run/walk of the circuit tonight. I know that I can walk 12k's in about 2 hours, so tonight's training session will give me a better indication of how much work I still have to do. My fellow runner and work colleague can run 5k's in 20 mins (or so he says), so I am really playing catch up. But it would be so good to beat him.

OK, time to head into work - the boss is off to the states tomorrow, which is all very well but our other senior records consultant is also on annual leave, leaving the library consultant (aka me) to handle what i can - and delay what i can't. Talk about interesting timing. Cheers me dears.
