My inner self is afraid of success....
How are you anyway? We haven't spoken in a while, so I hope you are keeping well. It's been an interesting week. Intense periods at work - I am writing work procedures - basically because no-one would know how to do my job if I fell off the perch. Lots of personal writing, plus I spent some time on Wednesday and went through my house and wrote down all the things I need to do/get/make - the list is enormous. But like painting the forth bridge, once these jobs are done, it will be time to start all over again. That's the trouble with houses, the dust is never absent for long.
Plus of course the usual weekly stuff, writing the daily dose takes time and thought processes, which means that I have to make time to read, think and absorb. Then of course I must find time to sleep and eat. It's never ending....which is a good thing as it means I really don't have time to get bored. But it also means that I have little opportunity to be still - as we discussed a few days ago. I get twitchy if I'm not doing something.
But I also know that what works for me may not work for you. I can multi-task, I know a lot of people who can't...and no it's not just the blokes (sic men) out there who can't. And that is the key to overcoming the procrastination habit. You have to find what works for you, and keep doing it. Refine the technique and do it again. Yes you can gain outside inspiration, but you are the one who has to do the work, I am not standing over you cracking a big whip - saying what are you playing at - just do it.... although that might work for some people some of the time, sooner or later you are going to have to take the time to speak to your inner you and discover what is holding them back, because once you know that - you will be able to move forwards....
My inner me is afraid that being still means being bored. It's also afraid of success -- because I can hide behind "stuff" and multiple projects I never seem to have the time to get stuck into the real work and that is my book writing. How about you?
