Holding the image firmly in your mind

I've always wanted a certain kind of dress, but the dress and my bank account did not correspond.....but it didn't stop me from wanting that dress. Yes I know it's only a dress, but to me it represents so much more than just a single garment. And this is why.

I knew what kind of dress i wanted. I also knew how much i was willing to pay for it. All i had to do was wait long enough and the dress would come. Nothing happened for several years....must be some kind of dress you'd say. Yes it is. But it wasn't until I "found" a picture of a similar style dress and cut out the picture, stuck it on a board that the dress actually materialised. Before I had the actual picture to focus on the image was a little fuzzy. Once the right image was embedded in my mind did my mind allow my hand to find it. Where? Actually it still had the full price tag on it, never bought, never worn and a fraction of the original price...and it came from a second hand store in the city.

I could say "how lucky am I?" and you would probably agree, yep there was a good deal of luck involved. Actually i think it has more to do with your conscious thought processes being on the same wavelength as your non-conscious thought processes. If you can see it, if you can believe it is right for you, if you know that it will come to you at some point in the future, then it will come. But if you don't believe that you are worthy of having the item/person/thing  (and it doesn't matter if it's an extra $50 in your pay packet each week, or $500, a new car, a toaster, or a person who you love) then you will never receive it.

In recent times (within the last 2 weeks actually) I have started re-doing something I used to do years ago. I have been cutting out things that I want to have, do or be and putting them into a box on my desk. Every day I flick through those pictures and "see" them. I've got candlesticks and ideas for garden beds, and things that i need for the house. Then last week, I found an old box that I had collected images and swatches of paint and fabric from years gone by. And what astounded me was how many of those images I had sketched and formed in my mind had come about. I could "see" what I wanted to achieve, and I worked out the steps I needed to take in order to get to project completion. In other words I ACTED on those images that I had found and formulated.

When you are clear about what YOU want, and what YOU know you are willing to give energy to, then you will be able to receive it. But don't try and use this technique to manipulate other people to do things - because it will only backfire on you....you can only control your actions, no one elses.

Try it. Find things that you want, cut out the pictures, put them where you can see them on a regular basis and you will begin to see opportunities where before you could only see racks of dresses !!
