More haste

Middle of winter, roads flooded, drivers playing dodgems with their own lives and those of other people in vehicles that would have trouble stopping should the unthinkable happen and the lights change colour.

I drive the same way to work each morning, and regularly see certain cars and trucks, all oblivious to what is going on around them. One woman, who drives a 4WD, silver, bull bars, name of company plastered all over the back window always calls into the local drive through coffee shop. She then races down the road, fuelled with her personal shot of legal stimulant. Weaving through traffic, forcing her way through to whatever is her first meeting of the day.

The next time I saw her this morning, she had just rear-ended a small family car. Mother and small daughter had just climbed out of their completely trashed car. A young man had stopped just in time and was lending assistance, as were several other cars. And what of the woman - well she stood head in hand, doing nothing as others raced around trying to fix her problem.

Do me a favour if you're in the habit of leaving things til the last minute, and I include things like, getting up late, not leaving yourself time to get to work - safely, then for goodness sake - please consider that your actions, and the results of your actions are going to impact on other people - and sometimes not for their benefit - or yours.
